HOW WE ARE ADAPTING TO COVID-19:

As we continue to adjust our operations to keep our advocates and clients safe, we are now handling client services BY PHONE. Please do not come in person to our office if you are in need of assistance, as our office is closed to the public.

If you have any questions about a PFA or criminal court case, please call our main office line at 717-780-7075. If someone does not answer your call immediately, please leave a message. An advocate will return your call within the hour during normal business hours (Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm).

If it is after 4pm, and you require an Emergency Protection from Abuse Order, please call the YWCA at 717-238-7273 for assistance.

As always, if you are in an emergency situation, please call 911.

We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we continue to find ways to serve our community safely and efficiently.

our mission

The Victim/Witness Assistance Program strives to reduce the trauma of a crime by empowering and assisting crime victims, witnesses and significant others in reconstructing their lives through advocacy, support, information and referrals.

Your Rights

In Pennsylvania, as a victim of a crime, you are afforded certain rights under the law.  Victim/Witness Assistance Program is here to ensure that those rights are protected and enforced throughout your time in the criminal justice system.

Your Privacy

You are important to us and we respect your privacy. You can be assured that your name and information will be held in the strictest confidence.  Victim/Witness Assistance Program (VWAP) strives to address problems that arise due to involuntary involvement in the justice system. The staff of VWAP shall not practice, condone, facilitate, or collaborate with any form of discrimination based on age, marital status, gender or gender identity, political belief, religion, mental disability, or physical disability or sexual orientation.  VWAP is an independent non-profit agency that provides support and assistance to victims of crime in Dauphin County. We provide these services at no cost to victims.

Victim/Witness celebrates 35 years!

Our heartfelt thanks to the amazing community who came out to support us as we celebrated 35 years of service to crime victims in Dauphin County! It was a beautiful night that paid tribute to the voices of the advocates, survivors, and community partners who have helped us to grow into the organization that we are today.

Thank you to the local news who came out to cover this fantastic event!

How helping Us Helps Others

Did you know that VWAP served close to 9,000 clients last year alone? Unfortunately, thousands of Dauphin County residents become victims or witnesses to crime each year. As a non-profit, Victim/Witness relies upon the generosity of local foundations, grants and donors to provide all services free of charge. Without the kindness of the community, VWAP would be unable to provide quality services to those in their most desperate time of need.

As a non-profit 501 (c)3, a contribution to VWAP is tax deductible.

What Our Clients Are Saying

"I’m thankful that you guys do this. Sometimes we do need that person to talk to… I didn’t have that outlet, and if you guys give people that outlet and someone to talk to, it just makes a difference. I appreciate everything you’ve done. I’m grateful and I’m thankful. You guys do an awesome job. Keep doing what you’re doing, because we families need this, we really do."
